An extraordinary piece of Italian revival furniture from the turn of the last century. While the previous owner used it as a sideboard for their dining area, the subject matter is probably more suited to a bed chamber. The sea serpent, crab, armor, men in helmets and stylized man blowing the clouds or waves are familiar subjects for carved pieces from the late 19th century. This piece securely assembles together from five pieces without any metal screws or fasteners.
